So with the social web—when we’re talking about the “about” or vanity page—I could literally use a word processor to create the HTML and then just upload it. That’s it. I don’t need to spend a lot of time on it. I certainly don’t need to spend a lot of money on it, because it just doesn’t matter.
I happen to put mine in a text editor because I like to play around with stuff, and in particular so I can add advertising. When I turn on ads and it looks at my site, do you know what ad I almost always get? PDF download tools. I have no idea why that’s the one it always picks, but the system looks at my site and says, “Oh, this is about technology,” and that’s what it serves.
