Brand Information Websites

So let’s talk about information web products. This is the easy category. These are vanity pages—homepages. You see the word homepage all the time. As example, Burger King has a homepage.

And here’s the key thing: the real value isn’t the website itself. The value is the external entity. If the Burger King website were terrible, would you say, “Well, I’m not going to Burger King”? No. You’re still going to go there. It has nothing to do with their web presence.

They don’t even really have to be good at it. That’s why they have an online presence, but the content itself isn’t where the value is. The website exists for branding and basic information, not because it’s the core product.
